Indian festive travel searches highlight Goa, Singapore and Bali demand for 2026 long weekends

Agoda data shows Indian travellers are searching for domestic and international destinations for Rakshabandhan and Janmashtami long weekends, with beaches, culture and city breaks leading choices.

Indian festive  travel searches in 2026 show growing interest in short holiday breaks, with Agoda accommodation search data highlighting domestic and international destinations travellers prefer for the Rakshabandhan and Janmashtami long weekends.

The data is based on accommodation searches made between 1 May and 31 July 2026 for stays during the two festive periods. It shows demand across beach destinations, cultural centres, hill retreats and international city destinations.

Goa leads domestic searches during both festive breaks

For the Rakshabandhan long weekend, Goa ranked as the most searched domestic destination on Agoda. Mumbai followed in second place, while Puri completed the top three.

Goa attracted interest during the monsoon season, when travellers explored its green landscapes, waterfalls and countryside areas. Meanwhile, Mumbai continued to appeal as a city break destination with its food, culture and entertainment options.

Puri combined coastal  tourism with religious travel demand through its connection with the Jagannath Temple and its beachfront location. In addition, Ooty, Munnar, Lonavala and Varanasi appeared among the top 15 domestic destinations, reflecting interest in nature escapes, hill destinations and spiritual journeys.

Singapore, Bali and Bangkok dominate international searches

For international travel during the Rakshabandhan break, Singapore ranked first, followed by Bali and Bangkok. These destinations attracted travellers seeking a combination of cultural experiences, urban attractions and leisure activities.

Singapore offered a mix of neighbourhood experiences, attractions and culinary options. Bali continued to attract visitors with its beaches, cultural sites and traditional landscapes. Bangkok remained popular for its temples, food culture and city experiences.

Other destinations among the international top 15 included Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Tokyo in  Asia, while London and Paris featured among longer-haul travel choices.

Janmashtami searches highlight heritage and leisure destinations

For the Janmashtami long weekend, Goa again ranked as the most searched domestic destination. Udaipur placed second, followed by Mumbai.

Udaipur attracted travellers with its lakes and Mewar-era heritage, while Mumbai continued to offer an urban short-break option. Other destinations in the domestic top 15 included Pondicherry, Chennai, Jaipur and Leh.

Leh stood out as a distinct travel choice, with its Himalayan landscapes and Buddhist monasteries attracting travellers seeking mountain experiences.

Dubai enters the top three international destinations

Internationally, Singapore, Dubai and Bali were the top three searched destinations for the Janmashtami holiday period.

Singapore and Bali maintained their popularity, while Dubai attracted travellers through its combination of urban experiences, desert activities and leisure attractions.

The international top 15 also included destinations such as Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Phuket, the Maldives, Hong Kong and Hanoi, showing continued interest in destinations across Southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean region.
