Indonesia links creative economy development with tourism through new Malang centre

Indonesia has launched a Creative Beauty Ecosystem Center in Malang, combining beauty industry development, technology and  tourism connectivity to support local creative businesses.

Indonesia’s creative economy development is gaining new momentum with the opening of the Creative Beauty Ecosystem Centre in Malang, East Java. The initiative connects the beauty industry with tourism and creative sectors.

Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefku Harsya inaugurated the facility on Thursday, July 30. He highlighted the importance of building ecosystems that create wider economic benefits.

“The business being developed here is not exclusive for personal gain; we are fostering an ecosystem that delivers economic benefits to the broader public,” Harsya said, according to a government statement.

Centre combines beauty, technology and tourism

The Creative Beauty Ecosystem Center supports the development of cosmetics and tourism industries. The facility forms part of an integrated complex that also includes Juragan 99 Trans, the premium transportation arm of J99 Corp. Harsya said the approach can generate additional value for the creative economy. It can also create employment opportunities and improve the competitiveness of local products.

“A concrete example of how the beauty industry can grow into a pillar of the national creative economy,” the minister said.

The centre reflects Indonesia’s efforts to strengthen cooperation between creative businesses and tourism services. It also aims to increase opportunities for local products to reach wider markets.

Technology supports creative industry growth

Shandy Purnamasari, founder of J99 Corp, said the facility combines technology, creativity and inclusiveness to support the beauty sector.

“We aim to blend technology, post-production creativity, and inclusiveness. Our office being side by side with Juragan 99 Trans is proof that beauty and tourism connectivity can go hand in hand to stimulate the economy,” she said.
