Philippine Airlines (PAL) has announced a significant expansion of its widebody fleet at the 2026 Farnborough International Airshow, securing strategic agreements with Boeing, Airbus, GE Aerospace, and Rolls-Royce. The deals include orders for 15 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners, with options for five more, and nine additional Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, also with options for five more. These aircraft will be powered by GE Aerospace’s GEnx-1B engines and Rolls-Royce’s Trent XWB-97 engines, respectively, with comprehensive service agreements in place.
The Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners are slated for delivery between 2031 and 2034, whilst the Airbus A350-1000s will arrive from 2034 to 2036. Lucio C. Tan III, President and CEO of PAL Holdings, Inc., stated, “These widebody aircraft and engine investments will enable Philippine Airlines to expand its reach, compete more effectively in key international markets, and serve better the evolving needs of travellers.”
Richard Nuttall, PAL President, highlighted the strategic nature of these commitments, noting that the combination of aircraft and engines will provide the airline with the efficiency, reliability, and flexibility needed to support its network. This move follows PAL’s recent achievements, including being named Asia-Pacific’s most on-time airline in 2025 and joining the oneworld® alliance.
