Asiana Airlines to exit Star Alliance in 2026

Asiana Airlines, based in Seoul, will officially depart from Star Alliance on 16 December 2026 at 23:59 Korea Standard Time.

The airline has been a member since 2003, contributing significantly to the alliance’s global connectivity. Star Alliance expressed gratitude to Asiana Airlines and its employees for their service over the years.

In preparation for the departure, Star Alliance and Asiana Airlines are collaborating to ensure a smooth transition for customers. Passengers enrolled in any Star Alliance member airlines’ frequent flyer programmes can continue to earn miles on Asiana-operated flights until 15 October 2026. Redemption of miles for award tickets and upgrades on Asiana Airlines will be available for  travel completed by 16 December 2026, subject to individual programme policies. 

Travel& Transportation

Star Alliance Gold and Silver status holders will retain their benefits, including priority services and lounge access, when flying with Asiana Airlines until the departure date. Post-departure, 14 Star Alliance member airlines will continue operations at Incheon International Airport, maintaining over 1,900 direct flights monthly to 29 global destinations.

From 17 December 2026, Star Alliance will consist of 25 member airlines, continuing its mission to facilitate seamless multi-airline journeys for travellers worldwide
