Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) has announced a net profit after interest and tax (NIAT) of RM137 million for the financial year ending 31 December 2025, more than doubling the RM54 million recorded in 2024. This marks the fourth consecutive year of operating profit for the group, attributed to disciplined execution and a focus on cost management and operational efficiency.
The group’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) rose to RM1.6 billion, a significant increase from RM788 million in the previous year. This improvement was supported by a stronger ringgit, favourable fuel prices, and capacity expansion across key markets. Total revenue grew by 6% to RM14.5 billion, driven by sustained travel demand and network optimisation.
MAG’s available seat kilometres (ASK) increased by 16%, with the total number of passengers carried rising by 12% to 18.6 million, achieving a passenger load factor of 81%. Despite challenges in the first quarter of 2025, the group restored consumer confidence and maintained strong performance throughout the year.
In the airline business segment, Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) saw a 7% revenue increase year-on-year, resuming services to Paris and Brisbane and expanding frequencies to key markets. Firefly introduced new international services and expanded domestic routes, whilst AMAL by Malaysia Airlines recorded higher revenue due to increased passenger numbers.
The non-airline business segment also performed well, with MAB Kargo and AeroDarat Services reporting stronger profits. MAB Engineering Services achieved a turnaround, moving from a loss to a profit, and MAB Academy remained profitable despite increased operating expenses.
MAG’s President and Group CEO, Captain Nasaruddin A. Bakar, highlighted the successful conclusion of the Long-Term Business Plan 2.0 and the transition to LTBP3.0, focusing on fleet modernisation and operational resilience. The group plans to continue its growth trajectory whilst navigating market volatility and geopolitical uncertainties
