Indonesia Tourism Xchange 2026 will convene hotel owners, investors and operators in Jakarta to assess tourism performance, capital flows and evolving luxury trends.
Indonesia Tourism Xchange 2026 will debut on 12 May 2026 at The Langham, Jakarta, introducing a new national industry platform for Indonesia’s tourism and hospitality sector. The forum will convene hotel owners, operators, investors and senior decision-makers to examine the forces shaping the country’s tourism economy amid renewed growth and increasing market complexity.
Curated to reflect Indonesia’s scale, cultural depth and diversity of destinations, ITX 2026 will address evolving traveller expectations, brand strategy, capital deployment and development models across luxury, lifestyle and performance-driven segments.
The agenda will open with an assessment of Indonesia’s investment climate and tourism outlook for 2026, providing economic context for subsequent discussions. Matt Gebbie, Director – Pacific Asia at Horwath HTL, will examine national hotel performance and demand dynamics across resort and urban markets, including upper-upscale and luxury assets.
“Indonesia’s opportunity is not simply growth—it is smart growth,” said Gebbie. “Luxury hotels, in particular, face higher expectations on performance, capital returns, and differentiation. Understanding which destinations, segments, and concepts will truly perform in 2026 and beyond is now critical for investors and operators alike.”
Luxury hospitality will form a central theme of the programme. Sherona Shng, Regional Vice President Operations Asia at Langham Hospitality Group, will address shifting definitions of premium service in Indonesia.
“Luxury travelers coming to Indonesia are not looking for replicas of global hotels,” said Shng. “They are seeking meaning, context, and a sense of place. The brands that succeed here will be those that understand Indonesia’s cultural complexity and deliver experiences that feel deeply personal, not standardized.”
Branded residences and ownership evolution
A dedicated session will examine the growth of standalone branded residences as a key component of Indonesia’s luxury real estate landscape. The discussion will be moderated by Bill Barnett, Managing Director of C9 Hotelworks.
“Branded residences are no longer a secondary product in Indonesia—they are becoming a primary driver of luxury real estate demand,” said Barnett. “What makes Indonesia compelling is the combination of brand trust, destination appeal, and lifestyle aspiration. The challenge is aligning those elements in markets that are diverse, fragmented, and culturally nuanced.”
The wider programme will also address hospitality technology, sustainability strategy, leadership, ownership transitions and culturally grounded design, reflecting a broader industry shift toward context-driven and resilient development models.
