SATA 2026 Evaluation Journey Moves to Kathmandu; Next Stop Bhutan

The South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) 2026 has officially advanced its on-ground evaluation process to Kathmandu, Nepal, marking another milestone for its landmark 10th anniversary edition.

The jury panel arrived in Kathmandu to evaluate the elite travel and hospitality nominees from Nepal, following the successful completion of intensive evaluation sessions across major regional hubs. The 2026 evaluation journey initially kicked off earlier this month in Colombo for Sri Lankan nominees, before moving swiftly across India with successful panel assessments completed in Bengaluru and New Delhi.

The evaluation in Nepal allows the panel of seasoned industry experts to audit local properties and service providers, ensuring strict adherence to regional benchmarks of operational excellence, innovation, and leadership.

Following the conclusion of the Kathmandu sessions, the SATA jury and evaluation team are scheduled to fly to Paro, Bhutan, to continue the next phase of on-ground assessments.

The final scores for the 10th edition of the awards will be determined by a combined weightage system: 60% from the intensive technical evaluations by the expert jury panel and 40% from public online voting. The highly anticipated SATA 2026 Grand Gala is scheduled to take place in the Maldives this coming September, where the absolute finest of South Asian hospitality will be crowned.
