Courtyard by Marriott Kobe has opened on Port Island with 381 rooms, two restaurants and 1,387 square metres of meeting and event space.
Courtyard by Marriott has opened Courtyard by Marriott Kobe, marking the brand’s debut in the Japanese port city. The 381-room hotel sits on Port Island and serves both business and leisure travellers. Its location provides access to Kobe’s commercial districts, airport, waterfront attractions and wider transport network.
The opening expands Marriott International’s presence in Japan through a hotel designed around flexible work, dining and meeting needs. Courtyard by Marriott Kobe also places guests close to major business and leisure destinations across Port Island and central Kobe.
Yuji Tanaka, Market Vice President for Japan and Guam, Marriott International, said:
“Kobe’s position as an important business hub and an internationally recognized leisure destination makes it a natural fit for Courtyard by Marriott,” said Yuji Tanaka, Market Vice President for Japan and Guam, Marriott International. “The opening of Courtyard by Marriott Kobe expands the choices available to travelers in Japan while providing a contemporary, well-connected base that helps travelers stay productive, recharge and experience the city’s waterfront setting, international heritage and celebrated culinary culture.”
381 guestrooms with work and relaxation in mind
Courtyard by Marriott Kobe offers 381 contemporary guestrooms inspired by the cityscape. Interiors use warm wood tones, neutral colours, layered textures and locally influenced artwork. Flexible tables and streamlined work areas allow guests to move between work and leisure during their stay.
The wider hotel design follows the same approach. Shared areas support meetings with colleagues, individual work and informal relaxation. At the same time, the property gives guests a base from which to explore Kobe and its waterfront surroundings.
Two restaurants and flexible social spaces
The hotel includes two restaurants, alongside an open lobby café and bar. Topaz serves a buffet breakfast each morning, while Prashanti offers international cuisine throughout the day. Meanwhile, the lobby café and bar provide space for coffee meetings and evening drinks.
These venues support a range of business and leisure occasions within the hotel. They also complement Courtyard’s focus on flexible spaces that can accommodate different needs throughout the day.
Seven event venues span 1,387 square metres
Courtyard by Marriott Kobe provides 1,387 square metres of meeting and event space across seven venues. The facilities can host conferences, training sessions, social events and weddings. In addition, smaller rooms support workshops, breakout sessions and more focused meetings.
The 326-square-metre Grand Pearl ballroom is the hotel’s largest venue. It can accommodate up to 200 guests in theatre-style seating. The events offer strengthens the property’s position within Port Island’s established business and convention district.
Connections to Kobe Airport and central Kobe
The hotel sits within walking distance of Naka Futo Station. From there, the Port Liner connects guests with Kobe Airport, around 4.7 kilometres away, and Sannomiya in central Kobe. Sannomiya also provides onward connections to Shin-Kobe Station and Japan’s Shinkansen network.
Nearby attractions include Kobe Convention Center, World Hall and Kobe Animal Kingdom. Guests can also reach Nankinmachi, one of Japan’s best-known Chinatowns, and the historic Kitano Ijinkan district. Kobe’s culinary scene, waterfront and proximity to the Rokko mountain range further broaden the destination’s leisure appeal.
