
The newly elected Board of Directors of the Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB), the country’s apex trade body representing the tourism industry, officially assumed office recently through a formal handover-takeover ceremony held at the TOAB office.
The outgoing Board, led by immediate past President Md Rafeuzzaman, formally handed over responsibilities to the newly elected President Mohammad Hanif and the new Board members. Former and newly elected directors, former office-bearers, TOAB members, and officials attended the ceremony.
Speaking after taking charge, President Mohammad Hanif expressed his gratitude to the voters and all TOAB members for their trust and support. He said the new Board is committed to working for the development of Bangladesh’s tourism industry, promoting the country’s tourism internationally, safeguarding members’ interests, and transforming TOAB into a more dynamic and modern organisation.
He added that the new leadership would prioritise sustainable development of the tourism sector, stronger policy support, expanded international cooperation, and initiatives to enhance the business capacity and competitiveness of TOAB members.
On behalf of the outgoing Board, immediate past President Md Rafeuzzaman congratulated the newly elected committee and called on all members to extend their cooperation in ensuring the organisation’s continued progress and development.
The new Board was elected in the TOAB election for the 2026–2028 term, held on June 16 at the auditorium of the Bangladesh Tourism Corporation in Agargaon, Dhaka. The Board formally assumed office through today’s handover ceremony.
The newly elected office-bearers are: Mohammad Hanif as President; Syed Shafat Uddin Ahmed Tamal as First Vice-President; Md Moinul Islam as Vice-President (1); Ziaur Rahman Zakir as Vice-President (2); Zahir Ahmed Helal as Director (Finance); Md Zahir Uddin as Director (Accounts); Md Firozul Islam as Director (International Affairs); Md Mizanur Rahman as Director (Media and Public Relations); Md Abul Baset Babu as Director (Trade and Fairs); Md Rabiul Islam Robi as Director (Legal Affairs); Md Abu Raihan Sarkar as Director (Printing and Publications); Naeimul Hasan as Director (Training and Research); Mominul Islam Asif as Director (Information Technology); Syed Md Imtiaz as Director (Culture and Sports); A B M Zakaria (Rajib) as Director (Membership and Social Welfare); and Shakhwat Hossain as Director (Property and Assets).
The elected directors are Md Mohi Uddin Selim, Tamim Ahmed, and Md Nurul Anwar, while Md Nasir Uddin Badal was elected as Director representing the Associate Members’ Group.
