Tourism Australia and Dwidaya Tour signed a 3-year MOU to boost Indonesian tourism to Australia, focusing on leisure and business travel beyond gateway cities.
Tourism Australia and Indonesia’s leading travel agency, Dwidaya Tour, have today signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at growing Australia’s tourism outreach across Indonesia. The landmark agreement marks a significant step in deepening Tourism Australia’s commitment to the Indonesian market.
Over the next three years, the partnership will focus on promoting Australia as a leading destination for leisure holidays and business events, engaging travellers from Jakarta and key secondary cities Surabaya, Malang, Semarang, Medan, and Makassar. The partnership will also support regional dispersal of Indonesian travellers, encouraging them to explore beyond Australia’s gateway cities and maximise the economic impact of Indonesian visitors.
Jennifer Doig, Tourism Australia’s Regional General Manager, South-South East Asia, said: “Indonesia is one of Australia’s fastest growing source markets. In the past twelve months to March 2025, the number of Indonesian travellers visiting Australia for leisure was up 15 per cent on the same period last year, and the volume of arrivals is projected to continue climbing. This multi-year partnership shows our commitment to this market, and with Dwidaya Tour’s extensive reach across Indonesia, Tourism Australia is well-positioned to grow visitor numbers from Indonesia and support the development of high-quality travel experiences.”
Hendri Yapto, the COO of Dwidaya Tour, said: “In the first quarter of 2025, Dwidaya Tour saw a 29% increase in demand for Australian destination travel products compared to the same period last year. Australia is a very popular destination for Indonesians – not only does it offer a unique mix of wildlife, spectacular scenery, and diverse cultures, but with its advanced tourism infrastructure, Australia also promises a thrilling and exciting travel experience for Indonesia’s Muslim families, premium travellers and enthusiasts of sports and music events. Dwidaya Tour’s partnership with the organisation will bring even more exciting travel opportunities to our guests, and we are proud to be working alongside Tourism Australia to inspire more Indonesians to experience the diversity and beauty of Australia.”
Indonesia remains a key market for Tourism Australia, with travel interest rebounding strongly in recent years. This strategic partnership is expected to build on that momentum and foster long-term, sustainable growth. Tourism Australia’s research finds that Indonesians’ top Aussie experiences include attractions in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Canberra; scenery and wildlife; as well as its beaches.
