Agoda data shows strong demand for beach destinations, with Goa leading domestically and Phu Quoc emerging as a key international favourite.
New insights from digital travel platform Agoda highlight how Indian couples are choosing their post-wedding getaways ahead of the upcoming wedding season. As celebrations increase from November to January, honeymoon travel is emerging as a key driver of demand, reflecting both traditional favourites and newly discovered destinations.
According to Agoda, Goa remains the leading domestic honeymoon destination for the second year in a row. Its appeal is supported by beaches, boutique resorts, and a strong food scene. Udaipur has moved into second place, with its “City of Lakes” setting attracting couples seeking royal ambience and waterside views. Mumbai ranks third, followed by Jaipur and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The Andamans have entered the top five for the first time, signalling growing preference for island escapes closer to home.
Internationally, Dubai continues to be the top choice for Indian couples, offering a mix of luxury experiences, desert adventures, and urban attractions. Phuket and Bangkok also maintain strong positions, while Bali and Pattaya remain popular for tropical getaways.
A standout trend in this year’s findings is the rapid rise of Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam. The destination has recorded an eightfold increase in popularity, entering the top ten for the first time and moving to sixth place for 2025. Agoda reports nearly 700% growth in search interest, suggesting strong appetite for new and affordable Southeast Asian leisure options.
Commenting on the data, Gaurav Malik, Country Director, Indian Subcontinent & Indian Ocean Islands at Agoda, said, “Honeymoons are among the most meaningful trips couples take, and Indian travelers are showing a growing preference for destinations that offer both romance and discovery. From classic getaway destinations like Goa and Bali to rising stars like Phu Quoc, beach and island getaways are winning hearts and setting the stage for a lifetime of happiness for newlyweds. Agoda’s wide range of stays and activities helps couples create trips as unique as their journey together.”
For tourism professionals, these trends indicate continued strength in beach and island demand, while also signalling opportunities for emerging destinations positioned around affordability, relaxation, and memorable experiences.
