Hotel Maverick appoints new General Manager, Brian Smith

Brian Smith joins Hotel Maverick as GM, bringing over 25 years of hospitality experience to manage operations and mentor CMU students.

Hotel Maverick, located on the campus of Colorado Mesa University, announced the appointment of Brian Smith as general manager. In his role, Smith will oversee operations of the 60-room boutique property and its award-winning food and beverage concepts, while also managing the hotel’s Hospitality Management program, which offers hands-on career training to university students.

Smith is a veteran in the hospitality industry, bringing more than 25 years of experience to his new role as general manager at Grand Junction’s Hotel Maverick. A dynamic hotel executive with extensive background managing operations of luxury branded and independent properties from coast to coast, Smith has held leadership positions with notable brands such as Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants and Hyatt Hotels Corporation. His expertise spans all facets of the industry, from food and beverage operations to room and revenue management, making him an invaluable asset to the Hotel Maverick team. Prior to stepping into his new role, Smith served as the regional director of operations at Main Street Hospitality, where his strategic leadership increased profitability across a portfolio of five luxury hotels and restaurants.
