Hong Kong Airlines and Ocean Park launch panda-themed aeroplane

Hong Kong Airlines and Ocean Park have announced a three-year strategic partnership, marked by the introduction of a panda-themed aeroplane. This collaboration, unveiled at Ocean Park’s Giant Panda Adventure exhibit, aims to merge aviation services with premier tourism experiences, showcasing Hong Kong’s unique appeal to a global audience. The specially commissioned A320 aeroplane, featuring Ocean Park’s Panda Friends IP, is set to enter service in the first half of next year, flying to numerous destinations.

Jeff Sun, President of Hong Kong Airlines, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “This panda-themed aeroplane is more than just a commitment to promoting Hong Kong tourism; it is a symbol of our dedication to creating flying experiences that are not only distinctly Hong Kong but also emotionally engaging.” The aeroplane will serve as an “ambassador in the sky,” allowing travellers to experience the charm of pandas at 30,000 feet.

Paulo Pong, Chairman of Ocean Park Corporation, highlighted the partnership’s potential to raise global awareness for giant panda conservation and attract more visitors to Hong Kong. The initiative is expected to enhance Hong Kong’s position as a premier international travel destination.

In addition to the aeroplane, the partnership will introduce travel packages combining flight and admission tickets to Ocean Park, simplifying travel planning for visitors. Over the next three years, the partners plan to explore further collaborations, including joint marketing campaigns and community outreach programmes, to bolster Hong Kong’s cultural and tourism sectors.
