Cooking Star Foundation is thrilled to announce the launch of Pitha Utshob & Nobanno Mela 1431, a unique pitha-making competition dedicated to showcasing and celebrating the rich tradition of Bengali cuisine. The event honors the Nobanno festival, a Bengali cultural celebration marked by the harvest season, and the beloved tradition of pitha-making.
This festival and competition aim to preserve and promote Bangla heritage by introducing traditional foods to urban communities, highlighting the artistry of culinary professionals, and connecting people with the flavors of Bengal. Pitha Utshob & Nobanno Mela will feature local, ethnic, fusion, foreign, wedding, and festival-inspired pithas from around the region, crafted by talented culinary artists.
Participants have the chance to win 50,000 BDT worth of prizes, including a professional-grade kitchen setup, hotel/resort stay, crests, certificates, and more. All contestants will also receive attractive prizes and certificates, celebrating their dedication and creativity in pitha-making.
Special honors will be awarded to local and international personalities and organizations that have contributed significantly to promoting Bengali cuisine, pitha, and tourism.
Judges: The competition will be evaluated by Jaheda Begum, Head of FNB & Production of NHTTI, and Executive Chef Jaher Khan, ensuring a professional and authentic selection process based on criteria such as novelty, taste, tradition, nutrition, and presentation. Competitors are required to bring three types of pitha, presented in a style that serves four people.
Participation Categories: Contestants can enter in four distinct categories:
- Regional Pithas
- Ethnic National Pithas
- Fusion and Foreign Pithas
- Wedding and Festival Pithas
