
Bangladesh International Hotel Association (BIHA) held a meeting followed by Iftar gathering at Sheraton Dhaka on 24 March, Monday Presided By Mr. HM Hakim Ali, President BIHA, bringing together members to discuss pressing industry concerns and strategic initiatives and Mr. Hakim Ali Outlined: The hospitality industry is a key pillar of Bangladesh’s economic growth, and BIHA remains steadfast in its commitment to addressing industry challenges and fostering a progressive business environment. Through collaborative discussions and strategic initiatives, we aim to ensure a stable supply chain, regulatory clarity, and greater opportunities for industry professionals. Our collective efforts will not only enhance service excellence but also contribute significantly to the nation’s tourism and hospitality sector. I appreciate the active participation of our esteemed members and look forward to working together towards sustainable growth and industry advancement.
The meeting, which commenced at 5:00 PM, focused on three key agenda points:
Beef Imports Issues: Mr. Asif Ahmed GM- Pan Pacific Sonargaon and Head of Committee on Beef Imports presented an update on their activities, addressing the current challenges in the import process and formulating potential solutions to ensure a stable and quality supply for the hospitality sector.
Alcoholic Beverages issue: Lt Col Nurul Alam (Retd.) Executive Director-Best Western Plus Maple Leaf and member of Committee on Alcoholic Beverages shared updated of the committee’s activities. The Committee prepared a draft letter for Home Ministry and they will visit the ministry after Eid Vacation.
BIHA Champions League 2025: Mr. Shakawath Hossain from Unique Hotel & Resorts PLC updated about upcoming BIHA Champions League 2025, an initiative designed to foster camaraderie and engagement among hospitality professionals through sports and teamwork. Total 20 Teams will participate this year in BIHA Champions League 2025.
The Honourable Members actively participated in deliberations, exchanging views and setting an action plan to address industry challenges effectively. The discussions reflected BIHA’s commitment to supporting the hospitality sector and ensuring a seamless operational environment for its members.
Following the meeting, attendees joined together for a grand Iftar, strengthening professional relationships and fostering unity among the industry leaders.
