AirAsia Philippines reports strong H1 2025 performance, driven by domestic demand, expanded regional routes, and targeted promotional campaigns.
MANILA, PHILIPPINES – AirAsia Philippines has announced a strong operational performance for the first half of 2025, having carried close to 3 million passengers across its domestic and international network. The airline also posted a load factor of 85%, indicating robust demand and efficient fleet utilization during the period.
According to the airline, 80% of passengers flown were domestic travelers, underscoring the continued strength of the Philippine domestic market. Among the domestic destinations, Puerto Princesa ranked as the most popular, while Taipei emerged as the top international destination among Filipino travelers.
“We’re proud to have started the year strong with an 85% load factor, 80% of which comprises domestic travelers. This strong performance signals positive growth for local tourism. We remain focused on supporting this through initiatives like the AirAsia Fiesta Series and and promotional campaigns tied to local festivals, encouraging Filipinos to explore and take part in the cultural festivities across the country, alongside our usual double-digit and P1SO sales”, AirAsia Philippines Communications and Corporate Affairs Head, First Officer Steve Dailisan shares.
AirAsia Philippines attributes part of this performance to ongoing initiatives aimed at stimulating domestic travel. Among these efforts are thematic campaigns such as the AirAsia Fiesta Series, which aligns with local cultural festivals to promote regional tourism. These campaigns are complemented by fare promotions and seasonal seat sales designed to attract price-sensitive travelers and encourage travel outside of peak periods.
In response to rising international demand, AirAsia has also taken steps to improve connectivity on select regional routes. Flights to Kota Kinabalu have been increased from three times a week to a daily service, while Taipei, currently one of the airline’s top-performing international routes, will see an increase in frequency from 14 to 17 weekly flights starting 1 July 2025. These adjustments aim to provide better travel options for both leisure and business passengers.
These strategic efforts reflect AirAsia Philippines’ broader approach to market stimulation through capacity optimization, network enhancements, and dynamic pricing strategies.
With the upcoming months expected to include increased travel linked to holidays and regional festivals, the airline continues to monitor trends closely and remains open to further frequency adjustments based on demand and operational capacity.
Travel trade professionals and tourism stakeholders are encouraged to explore new partnership opportunities with AirAsia as the airline continues to align its network development with national tourism goals.
