
Agoda data shows increased family travel interest in Thailand and abroad during October school break, with strong growth for Seoul and Pattaya.
Agoda has identified growing travel interest among Thai families during the October school break, with its latest search data showing increased demand for both domestic and international destinations. Outbound travel from Thailand rose by 3% year-on-year, while domestic travel searches increased by 26%.
Seoul recorded the strongest momentum among overseas destinations, with a 33% year-on-year rise in travel searches from families with children, surpassing Shanghai in growth. Agoda notes that Seoul’s rising appeal aligns with the popularity of cultural entertainment such as the animated series K-Pop Demon Hunter, alongside the city’s attractions, cuisine, and pop culture experiences. Tokyo remains the most searched destination overall for the second consecutive year, supported by its autumn weather and its well-known family-friendly offerings including Tokyo Disneyland, DisneySea, and Ueno Zoo.
Agoda’s ranking of top international destinations for Thai families during the school break is as follows: Tokyo in first place, Hong Kong in second, Osaka in third, Singapore in fourth, and Seoul in fifth.
Domestically, Thai family travel searches reflect strong interest in beach and nature-based destinations. Pattaya leads as the most searched destination with a 14% increase, followed by Hua Hin with a 12% rise. Bangkok recorded a 20% increase and remains popular with new entertainment developments and seasonal events. Chonburi showed 30% growth due to family-oriented attractions including Khao Kheow Open Zoo and Ninja Park. Khao Yai completes the top five with a 23% increase in searches, driven by nature-focused activities and family excursions. These destinations remain accessible for short trips from Bangkok.
