The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China has supported the organisation of a tourism promotion and information event in Yangon, Myanmar, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen inbound tourism and international market engagement.
The event, titled “2026 China Travel Briefing”, was held on 13 January 2026 and brought together representatives from Myanmar’s tourism sector, travel companies, industry associations and media. The briefing focused on providing updated information on China’s tourism market, travel facilitation measures and opportunities for bilateral cooperation.
During the briefing, Chinese representatives outlined key developments in the country’s tourism sector, including current market trends, product diversification and the recovery of travel demand. Particular emphasis was placed on practical travel information such as visa policies, transportation connectivity and entry procedures for visitors travelling from Myanmar to China.
The presentation also covered tourism products and routes aimed at international visitors, highlighting cultural tourism, urban destinations and themed travel experiences. Officials underlined the importance of strengthening people-to-people exchanges and expanding cooperation between tourism stakeholders in China and Myanmar.
The event formed part of broader outreach activities designed to enhance awareness of China as a destination and to facilitate cooperation with regional tourism markets. According to the information presented, interest from Myanmar-based travel operators in developing China-focused travel products continues to grow, supported by improving connectivity and policy facilitation.
