
The International Conference of Mountain Tourism and Outdoor Sports 2025 in Guizhou gathered 350 delegates from 30 countries, highlighting innovation, cultural integration, and sustainability in global mountain tourism.
The International Conference of Mountain Tourism and Outdoor Sports 2025 was inaugurated on November 11 in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, China, under the theme “Integration of Culture, Tourism and Sports Presents a High Quality Life.” The event brought together around 350 participants from 30 countries and regions, strengthening international cooperation for sustainable mountain tourism development.
A platform for global dialogue and cooperation
The conference featured a series of major activities, including the International Mountain Tourism Alliance (IMTA) Annual Conference, the International Mountain Tourism Promotion Conference (IMTPC), a Field Trip to Guizhou Mountain Tourism Destinations, and the “Bank of Guizhou – Mountain Culture, Tourism and Outdoor Sport Equipment Exhibition.”
Opening remarks were delivered by Dominique de Villepin, Chairman of IMTA; Lu Yongzheng, Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee; Zhu Shanzhong, UN Tourism Ambassador; and Mansour Chaya, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Republic of Lebanon in China.
During the event, IMTA signed Memorandums of Cooperation with the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), Everest Alliance Nepal, and the Department of Culture and Tourism of Hubei Province. A new publication titled Innovation in Mountain Tourism and Community Co-development was also launched, reflecting ongoing efforts to connect innovation with community-driven tourism.
An award ceremony recognized eight World Famous Tourism Mountains and six International Mountain Hiking Tourism Demonstration Routes, while fifteen new organizations joined IMTA, reinforcing the Alliance’s expanding international network.
