Spain has been crowned the world’s top digital-nomad destination for 2025, topping a new 64-country index by Global Citizen Solutions with an overall score of 99.67.
The 2025 Global Digital Nomad Report refines definitions, expands indicators, and incorporates new visa programs to reflect how remote work, mobility, and policy have evolved since 2020, according to Global Citizen Solutions, a London-based organization specializing in global citizenship, visa and relocation services in Europe and the Caribbean.
The ranking evaluates six pillars: procedure (visa costs, income requirements, duration, application method, extensions), citizenship & mobility (Schengen access, paths to permanent residency and citizenship), economics (coworking desk price, cost of living), tax optimization (structure and benefits), quality of life (overall livability, weather), and tech & innovation (internet speed, Global Innovation Index).
Spain’s perfect 100 in citizenship and mobility and a 94.68 in tech and innovation helped propel it to No. 1.
Lifestyle also weighed heavily in the index, where Spain scored 91.97.
The country enjoys roughly 300 days of sunshine annually—up to 320 on the Costa del Sol—contributing to a 91.53 quality-of-life score, according to Time Out.
Spain also ranks among Time Out’s 50 happiest countries in 2025, with Seville and Valencia featured among the magazine’s happiest cities.
Following Spain, the rest of the top 10 digital-nomad destinations for 2025 are the Netherlands, Uruguay, Canada, Czechia, Portugal, France, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, and Malta.
