Agoda’s 2025 data shows Indian travelers lead Asia in choosing accommodations with complimentary breakfast, highlighting value and convenience.
With culinary travel on the rise across Asia in 2025, new insights from digital travel platform Agoda reveal that breakfast-included stays are increasingly influencing travelers’ booking decisions. According to Agoda’s August search data, Indian travelers are leading the trend, with 14% using the breakfast filter when searching for accommodation — the highest proportion among Asian markets.
A complimentary breakfast ranks as the second most popular search filter on Agoda, following only star ratings. This indicates that travelers continue to view breakfast as an essential part of the travel experience, combining both practicality and cultural discovery.
The growing demand for breakfast-included stays reflects travelers’ pursuit of convenience and value, as the amenity offers a cost-effective start to the day while allowing guests to enjoy local culinary traditions. Across Asia, breakfast options vary widely, from regional specialties to international buffets, enhancing the overall hospitality experience.
Following India, Thailand and Malaysia rank next among nationalities most inclined to seek accommodations offering complimentary breakfast. The top eight are completed by Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Vietnam, underlining a widespread regional appreciation for this amenity.
Commenting on the findings, Andrew Smith, Senior Vice President, Supply at Agoda, stated: “For many travelers, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, offering fuel to power their adventures and the opportunity to sample local flavors. With Agoda’s user-friendly platform and search features, travelers can easily find accommodations that cater to their breakfast preferences, ensuring a great start to their day.”
