London has been named the world’s top travel destination for 2025 in the milestone 25th anniversary edition of Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards.
This year’s awards highlighted the “Best of the Best Destinations” across seven categories, including trending destinations, culture, cuisine, honeymoons, solo travel, and a special 25th-anniversary selection.
The UK’s vibrant capital claimed the top spot, surpassing Dubai, thanks to its exceptional culinary experiences and a wealth of arts and heritage attractions. London also ranked second globally for its food scene and third as a cultural hotspot.
Tripadvisor assessed the quality and volume of all-time reviews to crown London as number one in the exclusive 25th-anniversary destinations category.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan celebrated the city’s recognition by Tripadvisor, proudly declaring it the “greatest city in the world to visit” after it claimed the top ranking.
New York and Rome joined Paris and Bangkok in securing spots on Tripadvisor’s 25th-anniversary list of favorite destinations as voted by reviewers.
In other categories, Osaka, Japan, emerged as the top trending destination, driven by a significant increase in year-over-year reviews. Following closely were Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina.
For those traveling solo, Seoul in South Korea stood out as a prime choice for solo adventures, alongside Kathmandu, Cusco in Peru, and Kyoto, Japan.
Tripadvisor analyzed consumer search patterns for trips planned between November 1, 2024, and January 31, 2025, to develop its latest seasonal travel index.
The platform’s data reveals that travelers are most enthusiastic about savoring Rome’s culinary delights, exploring Bali’s rich cultural heritage, and enjoying romantic honeymoons in Mauritius.
