Holidays Are Back; Everyone Can Finally Relax

According to Tripadvisor’s data, international tourism shows no indications of slowing down. One might assume that the rising cost of living would have hampered our desire to take luxurious, far-flung vacations this summer, but the opposite is true. Well, not really.

According to newly revealed Tripadvisor data, Aussies can’t wait to get away, after all, due to our geographical position of very keen travellers.

The survey found that 83% of Australians had booked at least one summer holiday, with 73% planning to take at least one trip between December and February.

In addition, several unexpectedly popular domestic and international travel destinations and top-rated summer experiences have been highlighted.

Nearly half of Australians polled claimed they were spending more on summer vacations this year than last, despite inflation reaching its highest point over three decades.

Some Australians want to fulfil their wish for a snowy Christmas by travelling to one of many cold places.

More and more people from Australia are planning vacations in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many travellers and one of the greatest spots to witness the stunning Aurora Borealis.

During the lockdown, many of us watched movies and Netflix, and our media diets have influenced the vacations we crave.

Per TripAdvisor, a luxury boat journey to the James Bond islands in Thailand is one of the most sought-after international vacation experiences.

Even witches and wizards need a vacation, as the Harry Potter Studio Tour at Warner Bros. Studios is one of the top five international experiences.

According to Tripadvisor, the three most exciting aspects of a vacation for Australians are the scenery (57%), the food (49%), and the activities (45 per cent).

More than two-thirds of expected summer visitors to Australia want to remain within the country’s borders.

Nearly two-thirds of Australian respondents intend to travel between one and six hours to get to their summer holiday destination, with half choosing to fly.
