Qatar Airways’ network passes 85 destinations

Qatar Airways is continuing to rebuild its route network following the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, with the carrier now operating over 550 weekly flights to more than 85 destinations in six continents.

The figure is still only around half the 160 destinations the airline was serving pre Covid-19, but it is double the number that were being served in early June.

For comparison fellow Gulf carrier Emirates’ network recently reached the 75-destination mark, with the resumption of flights to Warsaw.

This week Qatar Airways resumed flights to London’s Gatwick airport, and will offer flights to eight US cities and five Australian destinations by next month, including a double daily service to New York JFK.

Commenting on the news the group’s CEO Akbar Al Baker said:

“Since the onset of the pandemic Qatar Airways network has never fallen below 30 destinations with continuous services to five continents. Our airline has lead the industry in offering passengers more choices and greater flexibility so they can plan and book travel with confidence.

“We have also implemented the most advanced safety and hygiene measures onboard including becoming the first airline to require passengers to wear face shields in addition to face coverings.”
