India-Bahrain in talks to operate ‘air bubble’ flights

India is negotiating with Bahrain and 12 other countries to establish separate air bubble arrangements for international flight operations.

Bahrain is on the list of countries along with Australia, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Nigeria, Israel, Kenya, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea & Thailand. These ongoing negotiations will benefit stranded Indians and nationals of these countries.

“Air bubbles have also been proposed with our neighbours Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal and Bhutan. Going forward, we will consider such arrangements with other countries also. It is always our endeavour to reach out to every stranded citizen. No Indian will be left behind” said Union Minister of Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri.READ  Floods in India, Nepal displace nearly 4 million people

“We continue to further strengthen the reach & scope of VBM. Air Travel arrangements are already in place with the USA, UK, France, Germany, UAE, Qatar & Maldives. We are now taking these efforts forward & are negotiating with 13 more countries to establish such arrangements” he added.

The air bubble is a bilateral arrangement with a set of regulations and restrictions in which the carriers of the two countries can operate international flights. The air bubbles arrangement between the two countries helps airlines to operate international flights with certain restrictions.
