Chancellor Rishi Sunak yesterday said destinations are under constant review and travellers must factor in the risk of disruption when they head overseas.
The country is expected to be considered when travel restrictions are reviewed at the end of next week.
It is the second most popular destination after Spain for Britons, with more than 10 million visits in 2019. Infections in France have increased to 13.2 per 100,000 people compared with 8.4 in the UK.
Belgium, Andorra and the Bahamas were added to the UK’s travel blacklist on Thursday night. Anyone Holidaymakers arriving from them will now have to quarantine for 14 days.

Mr Sunak said: “What I can say to people is we’re in the midst of a global pandemic and that means there is always the risk of disruption to travel plans and people need to bear that in mind.”
Margaret Harris, from the World Health Organization, said: “I would say to travellers you really have to look at whether you need to go, whether you really need to move from your country for that holiday and you need to really watch the epidemiology.”
Meanwhile, Jet2 has extended the suspension of flights and holidays to Spain’s Balearic and Canary Islands until August 16.
