SriLankan to launch flights between Maldives and more European destinations

riLankan Airlines, the flag carrier of Sri Lanka, has announced plans to increase the frequency of commercial operations to Maldives, and connect the country with additional destinations.

In a tweet on Sunday morning in celebration of Maldives’ 55th Independence Day, the airline announced that it will begin holding seven weekly flights to Maldives staring August 1.

At the same time, it will also begin commercial operations between Maldives and four major European cities; London, Paris, Frankfurt and Milan.

Sri Lankan Airlines was one of the first international airlines to resume commercial operations to Maldives when it reopened its borders after a near four-month lockdown on July 15.

The airline operates flights between Maldives and Sri Lanka, and between Maldives and destinations in Europe, Middle East and North Asia.

The airline had operated three daily flights between Male’ and Colombo prior to border closure.
