Malaysia Airlines Launches “Fly Confidently” Campaign

Passenger activity is continuing to pick up again in Malaysia following the downturn due to the coronavirus pandemic. With the climate slowly changing, Malaysia Airlines is ensuring that there are extensive safety measures across its operations. Therefore, this week, its parent, the Malaysian Aviation Group, announced its Fly Confidently campaign, which seeks to heighten awareness on the health initiatives taken by the firm.

Back in action

Domestic bookings have spiked since domestic travel resumed in the country last month. AirAsia even sold a record-breaking 41,000 seats in just one day. With this in mind, airlines have a role to play to ensure that there is minimal risk across their services.

Subsequently, according to a press release seen by Simple Flying, Malaysia Aviation Group CEO Captain Izham Ismail shared that there is a series of materials to help guide passengers. Along with this, the new hygiene procedures in place should help improve safety along the way.

“The safety and wellbeing of our passengers and employees are important to us. Hence, we introduced the Fly Confidently campaign to educate the traveling public on the health and safety measures that we have put in place to travel safely from pre-flight right up to arrival,” Ismail said, as per the release.

“Under this campaign we produced a series of communication resources such as infographics, travel checklist and advisories which are available on our website. Passengers can also refer to these materials to understand the steps they can take to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.”

Extra effort

From July 15th, the operator will provide its customers with a complimentary hygiene kit. The pack will include a face mask, a sachet of hand sanitizer, and a sanitizing wipe. Ismail highlights how this move is in line with the carrier’s famous hospitality attributes.Advertisement:

Ultimately, Malaysia Airlines has summarized its new approach in an educational video. The safety journey starts at home, where travelers can perform contactless check-in through the operator’s mobile app or website. The video then shows a step-by-step guide all the way to Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

Covering all bases

All the measures shown in the video, comply with the guidelines set by international and local regulatory bodies, such as the Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), World Health Organization (WHO), International Air Transport Association (IATA), and Ministry of Health of Malaysia (MOH). The procedures have been customized to the airline’s requirements.

These processes include:Advertisement:

  • Educating passengers on the latest requirements through various communication channels;
  • Heightening the routine sanitation of the self-service kiosks, check-in counters, airline and airport facilities;
  • Health screening using thermal scanners via contactless thermometers;
  • Displaying the COVID-19 monitoring app MySejahtera QR code, for passengers to update their information;
  • Imposing social and physical distancing rules wherever possible;
  • Requiring passengers to wear face coverings or masks at all times.

Altogether, Malaysia Airlines is taking hygiene seriously across its services. With air travel making a comeback in Malaysia, the last thing carriers need is for the virus to rapidly spread again. Therefore, everyone needs to play their part in the fight against the pandemic. Ultimately, these measures should go a long way if they are adhered to.
