India is expected to continue its strong growth in aviation, and we are well on our way to building the best air transport system in the world, serving more passengers and delivering on our promise to provide them with low fares and a courteous, trouble-free experience.”

Guillaume Faury, Airbus Chief Executive Officer quoted, “We are delighted that IndiGo has become our biggest customer for the A320neo family, one of our early launch customers for the A320neo and it continues to build its future with Airbus.”  “The strong vote of confidence as this order confirms that the A320neo family is the aircraft of choice in the most dynamic aviation growth markets and we are grateful for it.” He added: “IndiGo is going to take the full advantage of the predicted growth in Indian air travel and it is pleasing to see our aircraft being part of it.”

Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer said, “From day one we believed Indigo and are delighted to be able to achieve this most fruitful partnership”. “IndiGo as a leading low cost operator has brilliantly demonstrated the relevance of the A320neo and the A321neo. Now the A321XLR would provide our operators with the logical next step in cost competence, passenger comfort and market coverage.”

Riyaz Peer Mohammed, Chief Aircraft Acquisition and Financing Officer of IndiGo, said “Partnering again with Airbus for our next batch of Airbus A320neo Family aircraft is a pleasing moment for us. IndiGo would maintain its strong focus on lowering operating costs and delivering fuel efficiency with high standards of reliability with the fuel-efficient A320neo family aircraft. Engine manufacturer for this order will be chosen at a later date,”

An unmatched Xtra Long Range of up to 4,700nm – with 30 percent lower fuel burn per seat would be achieved by this aircraft, compared with preceding generation competitor jets.
